Gift Orban breaks European records one after another!
He is only 21 years old, but has already set in 2023 two all-time records in European club football! A Nigerian forward Gift Orban has the right to be considered one of the main revelations of this year.
Let’s recall that on 15 March he scored for Gent the fastest hat-trick in the history of major European club tournaments (in the space of 3 minutes 25 seconds).
And now he has become the first player ever in history to score in European club tournaments as many as 3 hat-tricks for a calendar year. The third of them took place on 9 November, in the game of Conference League vs Breidablik (3-2).
Worldwide, there was already one similar case. A Brazilian Rico (full name Leandson Dias da Silva) has amassed 3 hat-tricks in 2008 in AFC Cup, with 2 of them coming in both final matches of the competition!
It is remarkable also that at the moment Orban already has 5 hat-tricks in all competitions of 2023. No one else in world football has such a number.
Curious, until 2023, Gift had no hat-tricks in senior football at all.
Don’t forget that he still has 2 more Conference League matches this year, in which he can try to set a new world record, beating Rico’s achievement from 2008.
