RECORDS IN THE BUNDESLIGA

Match of records in Bundesliga

The Bundesliga match Bayern vs Darmstadt (8-0) on 28 October was replete with notable events and records.

*For the first time in the history of competition, 3 players were sent off in the first half.

*For the first time in XXI century, a team scored 8 goals in one half of a Bundesliga game.
Curiously, this event, very rare for strong enough national leagues, happened twice during a week. On 21 October 21, Mlada Boleslav scored the same number after the break in a match with Zlin (9-5) in the Czech league.
In the entire Bundesliga history, there has only been one occasion when a team scored more in one half (see the table).

*For Bayern, this is already 8th match in XXI century with 8+ goals scored; the most famous of them is the Champions League semi-final vs Barcelona in 2020 (8-2).

*In the career of the Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel, this is the 3rd match when his team scores 8+ goals. In 2019, his PSG crushed Guingamp 9-0, and in 2016, Dortmund staged a mega-thriller in the Champions League vs Legia (8-4).

*Harry Kane, a hat-trick hero, amassed 12 goals in his first 9 Bundesliga matches; no one did it before.
Previously, the highest individual achievement after first 9 goals was 10 goals (Gert Dörfel, Klaus Matischak, Rüdiger Mielke, Horst Hrubesch, Paco Alcácer and Erling Haaland).

*Kane scored one of his goals from his own half of the pitch (from a distance of about 60 meters): another rarity.
But there have been further goals in the Bundesliga history). The record belongs to Moritz Stoppelkamp (83 meters in 2014-15).

*Manuel Neuer watched all this from his box  making his first Bundesliga appearance 350 days after he last played in the competition on 12 November 2022, his longest ever gap between two appearances in the competition.
