IRAQI FOOTBALL IN BOOKS
Hassanin Mubarak, our IFFHS Member since a long time, has published after compiling and classifying the international matches of the Iraqi national team a series of six books from 1951, documenting Iraq's first international game after its affiliation to FIFA until the year 2019.
He began searching and compiling Iraq's international matches almost twenty years ago, and done this with the help of others, including fellow IFFHS members.
The cover of the 1951-1969 book has the first emblem of the Iraq Football Association, while the cover of 1970-1979 book is green in tribute to the green jersey Iraq wore in its first Gulf Cup in Doha in 1976, where for the first time millions of Iraqis watched their team in colour. The 1980-1989 book cover has the same blue jersey Iraq wore at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, while the 1990-1999 book cover is in the design of the black jersey Iraq wore at the 1999 Pan Arab Games.
