Miguel Borja, 2nd best international club scorer after Alberto Spencer
Miguel Borja, a 30-year Colombian striker playing for River Plate, has scored a goal in the last Copa Libertadores match of group stage vs The Strongest (2-0), which became his 39th in CONMEBOL major club competitions.
Borja turned the 2nd best goal-scorer in the corresponding historical ranking, behind only the legendary Alberto Spencer who leads with a big gap with 54 goals.
Borja’s tally is made of 24 goals in Copa Libertadores (CL) and 15 in Copa Sudamericana.
By clubs, he has scored 11 goals for Atlético Nacional (in 2016), 11 for Palmeiras (in 2018-19), 16 for Junior Barranquilla (in 2020-22) and 1 for River Plate (in 2023).
Borja also became the 2nd best Colombian scorer in the history of Copa Libertadores (24 goals), surpassing Víctor Aristizábal (23). Only Anthony de Ávila is ahead of him with 29 goals.
