FIFA U20 WORLD CUP – THE SITUATION
They have qualified for the quarter-final stage of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina (Israel, USA, South Korea, Uruguay, Italy, Nigeria, Colombia and Brazil ). The first to advance to the quarter-final stage on Tuesday after beating Uzbekistan and New Zealand, respectively, in the Round of 16 fixtures were Israel and USA . Israel defeated Uzbekistan 1-0, thanks to a late stoppage time goal from Anan Khalaili, while the USA defeated New Zealand 4-0 with a new goal of Cade Cowell to book a place in the quarter-final.
Then, Colombia let no chance to Slovakia (5-1) with two braces of Oscar Cortes (already 4 goals) and Tomas Gutierrez. Host Argentina was surprised by Nigeria (0-2) and England lost in the last minutes against Italy with the fifth goal of Cesare Casadei. Brazil was efficient against Tunisia (4-1), Marcos Leonardo scored his goal number 4 in the competition. Uruguay won 1-0 against Gambia (two red cards in the game) and South Korea beat Ecuador (3-2) despite the fourth goal of Justin Cuero.
The quarter-final fixtures will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
