CAF TotalEnergies Champions League ¼ Finals Draw made.  

Effected on Wednesday, the 8 teams in contention face off in pairings that see a re-make of last year’s tie between Al Ahly and Raja Casablanca at the same stage. Then, the Egyptians, Ahly, went through on aggregate after a 2-1 victory at home followed by a    1-1 draw. The Egyptians will host this season’s yet invincible Raja in the first leg. Wydad and Simba will lock horns for the first time since their last meeting in a 2011 special play-off  match won by Wydad 3-0. Mamelodi Sundowns  will be in Algeria for their first leg against CR Belouizdad. Their fellow countrymen, JS Kabylie will also host Esperance of Tunis in one of the first leg games scheduled for May 12-13. The second leg games come up a week later.

The draw review is as follows:

QF1: Simba SC(Tanzania) vs Wydad Athletic(Morocco).

QF 2: Al Ahly(Egypt) vs Raja Athletic Club(Morocco).

QF 3: CR Belouizdad(Algeria) vs Mamelodi Sundowns(South Africa).

QF 4: JS Kabylie(Algeria) vs Espérance Tunis(Tunisia).

Semifinals : QF4 vs QF2 ; QF1 vs QF3.

In another development, the CAF Executive Committee has unanimously agreed on behalf of African football to back Morocco’s FIFA World Cup 2030 bid  after the kingdom announced their intentions to that effect at the recent 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda. The bidding to host is in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
