Copa Libertadores: statistics on group stage match-day 1 (4-6 April) 

*Flamengo started with a quite sensational loss to Aucas (Ecuador, 1-2) but meanwhile became the first club in the entire history of the Copa Libertadores to score in 15 consecutive away games.
Flamengo has surpasses the previous record of Palmeiras: 14 scoring away games in a row between November 2020 and August 2022.

*Patronato (Argentina) debutted in Copa Libertadores (with a loss vs Atlético Nacional 1-2) to become the 8th team in the tournament’s history playing in the 2nd division of their country.
Other teams that played in Copa Libertadores while they were members of the national 2nd tier are: Cricíuma in 1992, Santo André in 2005, Paulista in 2006 (all Brazil), Jorge Wilstermann in 2011 (Bolivia), Palmeiras in 2013 (Brazil), Santiago Wanderers in 2018 (Chile), Tigre in 2020 (Argentina).

*Alianza Lima (tied 0-0 vs Athletico Paranaense) accumulated 30 consecutive Copa Libertadores games without winning (since 27 March 2012); 9 more than any other team in the history of competition.

*The pair Metropolitanos (Venezuela) vs Nacional (Uruguay) set the new competition’s record on biggest difference in experience (in matches played in the tournament) between two rivals facing each other. Nacional have played 407 more games than its opposition, and won the game 2-1.
The previous record was set in 2022 edition by Bragantino (Brazil) and Nacional again (401 more games for the Uruguayan side).

*Boca Juniors started by a 0-0 vs Monagas (Venezuela). Boca have won only 3 of their last 14 Copa Libertadores debuts (8 draws and 3 losses). 

*Two Boca players have been sent off (Bruno Valdez, Facundo Roncaglia). They last suffered a double expulsion in a Copa Libertadores match on 17 June 2004 (red cards for Fabián Vargas and Carlos Tevez against River Plate).

*Libertad (Paraguay) managed to beat Atlético Mineiro (1-0) away. It is their third victory on Brazilian soil in a Copa Libertadores match, after the wins over Paraná Clube (2-1 in 2007) and Grêmio (1-0 in 2019). 

*Germán Cano has scored another 2 goals for Fluminense (3-1 vs Sporting Cristal, Peru) moving his tally to 16 in all club competitions in 2023. All his other team-mates scored only 12 goals combined, with Jhon Arias the best scorer behind Cano with just 2 goals.
