*Lionel Messi (PSG) became vs Maccabi Haifa (7-2) the oldest player (35 years, 123 days) in Champions League history to score 2+ goals and give 2+ assists in a game.
*Messi's made such a double brace (on goals and assists) for the 2nd time in his career in a Champions League game. The first time it was for Barcelona against Lyon (5-1) on 13 March 2019.
*Messi has surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo (23 against 22) on goals from outside the box in Champions League. He is new record holder of the competition in this category.
*Messi, in brilliant form on the eve of World Cup, became the first player in the top 5 European leagues this season to score 10 goals and give 10 assists in all competitions.
*Messi made a huge contribution for PSG to equal their highest scoring record in a game of European competition. They have scored 7 goals for the 3rd time (also vs Rosenborg 7-2 on 24 October 2000 and vs Celtic 7-1 on 22 November 2017; in all cases it happened in Champions League).
