Cristiano Ronaldo has scored most goals in World Cup games (43) including both qualification (36) and final (7) stages. 
During the qualification for 2022 edition, he surpassed the previous record holder Carlos Ruiz (Guatemala) who never played in the finals and scored all his 39 goals in the qualifiers.
