BRAZIL AND URUGUAY WINNERS

Brazil thrashed Venezuela 4-0 to continue a run of big victories at the Copa América Femenina. Both teams had records approaching the match at the Estadio Centenario in Armenia in Colombia, but the defending champions laid down a serious marker with the heavy scoreline. Bia Zaneratto headed Brazil into a 1-0 half-time lead, before Ary Borges finished off a counter-attack with a classy strike and Debinha added a brace from close range.

Debinha now has four goals in the Copa América Femenina, tied for the tournament lead with team-mate Adriana and Argentina's Yamila Rodríguez. The victory means Brazil are now assured of a spot in the semi-finals and will win Group B, not that that ever looked in much doubt.

Uruguay smashed Peru 6-0 later in the day at the same venue. After a first half time without goals, Pamela González and Esperanza Pizarro (picture up) both scored twice in a stunning second-half showing from Uruguay. Belen Aquino and Ximena Velazco scored the two other goals. It was Uruguay's last match of the tournament as like Peru they have been eliminated.

Venezuela and Argentina are level on six points and will meet in a winner-takes-all clash on Thursday (July 21) to decide who finishes second in Group B.
