IFFHS EURO STATISTICS 3 - THE BEST GOAL SCORERS

Best Goal-Scorers (final stages): Michel Platini and Cristiano Ronaldo
Ever since Michel Platini (picture down) scored his incredible 9 goals in 5 matches in the final tournament of Euro 1984, no one has managed to surpass him. The Frenchman remains the top goal-scorer in the history of the competition (considering only the final stages), although that tournament was the only one in his career, and some of the prominent forwards had three or four at their disposal.
For example, Cristiano Ronaldo spent four times more matches to score the same 9 goals. He is currently on the second line in the ranking, behind Platini who is the first by a tie-breaker (this is the number of matches played).
However, the first goal scored by the Portuguese in the upcoming tournament will probably make him the new single record holder. Although he will have a couple of competitors who also have a chance to catch up and surpass Platini - Antoine Griezmann and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Both have now 6 goals.
Ibrahimovic holds the record for the number of goals scored in the Euro by the right foot (6), Griezmann for the number of goals scored by the left foot (4) and Cristiano Ronaldo by the head (5).
