Carli Anne Hollins Lloyd, born 16 July 1982 in Delran Township, is one of the best US football players in the History ! At 38, she is always one of the Top Goal Scorers of the US National team, scoring already 122 goals in 289 international games !
She began to play as high school athlete in 1999 in Universities particularly Rutgers Scarlett Knights, making a W-League experience with Central Jersey Splash, New Brunswick Power and South Jersey Banshees. She played as offensive midfield for the Chicago Red Stars, Sky Blue FC and Atlanta Beat (2009 to 2011) in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS). In 2013 she was allocated to Western New York Flash for the inaugural season of the new NWSL and won the regular championship. After two seasons with Flash, she joined Houston Dash in 2015 with six months loan to Manchester City in England ( a title : the FA Women’s Cup), before signing with Sky Blue FC in 2018, where she is always under contract.
Carli Lloyd has made History with the USA National Team. She won two Olympic Gold Medals (2008, 2012), scoring each time the winning goals in the finals and two FIFA World Cup Champion titles (2015 and 2019) ! She won also 6 times the Algarve Cup in Portugal, 2 CONCACAF Women’s Championships (2014, 2018), 3 CONCACAF Tournaments (2008, 2012, 2016), two She Believes Cup (2016, 2018), one Tournament of nations (2018) and was also runner-up at the FIFA World Cup 2011 (silver medal) and Bronze Medal at the FIFA World Cup 2007 , named also 2008 US Soccer Athlete of the Year with the Olympic Gold.
In 2015, Carli Lloyd became the the first Player ever to score three goals in a FIFA Women’s World Cup Final (5-2 against Japan) and the second Player ever to score a hat trick in any men or women FIFA World Cup Final after Geoff Hurst in 1966 with England. She scored her 3 goals in 16 minutes and received the Golden Ball Trophy as the Best Player of the World Cup, earning also the Silver Boot for her six goals and one assist. This year 2015 was the most successful year in her career, because she won the FIFA World Cup as captain of USA Team, the Golden Ball, the Silver Boot, but also the FIFA World Player of the Year Award and the IFFHS THE BEST WOMAN PLAYMAKER OF THE YEAR AWARD.
She was nominated in all the Dream Teams of the Year (FIFA, CONCACAF, World Cup ) and took her revanche. She was initially criticised for being inconsistent at the beginning of her career, but developed later into one of the Best Players in the World for her outstanding determination and mental strength. Known for her control, technique and passing accuracy, Carli played in several midfield positions, particularly as an attacking midfielder behind the forwards. She scored many decisive goals at the Olympic Finals 2008 and 2012, and at the FIFA World Cup 2015. Next objective : the Olympic Games in Japan 2020 !
